The 64-meter-high Glienitzberg was piled up during the Saale Ice Age as an upsetting moraine. Here once clay was mined. It is hot and dry in the summer on the south facing slopes of the clay pit. Ideal for dry professionals such as the steppe grass (Phleum phleoides), the gray scabious (Scabiosa canescens) and the common chimney wasp (Odynerus spinipes).
