        The Castello di San Salvatore

An early settlement dating back to the Bronze Age can be proven based on archaeological finds. In the Roman era, the Via Claudia Augusta crossed what is now the municipality. The Susegana bridge over the Piave is still preserved today. Fortresses were built on the hills. The Castello di San Salvatore, which is still preserved today, dates from 1323 and later and was built by the Lords of Treviso. According to this, the community of San Salvador was founded during the French occupation. The name was later changed to Susegana.

During the First World War the center of the town was destroyed, including the church of San Giorgio. The Visitazione della Beata Vergine church contains an altarpiece by Giovanni Antonio da Pordenone and 15th-century frescoes discovered during restoration work in 1984.
