Weingarten is a Franconian hamlet that belongs to Scheßlitz.

Until the beginning of the 19th century, Weingarten was under the sovereignty of the Bishopric of Bamberg. The village and community rule that was decisive for this in the Franconian area was exercised by his office Scheßlitz in his function as a bailiwick office. This office was also entitled to high jurisdiction, in its role as Centamt. When the Bishopric of Bamberg was secularized as a result of the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1802/03 and annexed by the Electorate of Palatinate-Baiern, violating the imperial constitution, Weingarten also became part of the New Bavarian areas that had been taken over during Napoleon's land consolidation.

Due to the administrative reforms carried out in the Kingdom of Bavaria at the beginning of the 19th century, Weingarten became part of the independent rural community of Peulendorf with the second municipal edict in 1818, to which the two villages of Köttensdorf and Pünzendorf had also belonged. In the course of the municipal area reform carried out in Bavaria in the 1970s, the town was then incorporated into the town of Scheßlitz together with the entire Peulendorf municipality on May 1, 1978. In 1987 Weingarten had 18 inhabitants.
