In the 1920s and again in the 1960s, the Nidda River was regulated to reduce the risk of flooding. Out of the many meanders, the branches were formed, while the new riverbed was straightened and dredged. This significantly shortened the flow. A beautiful trail along an old arm can be found in Frankfurt Praunheim: Coming from Rödelheim, the road branches off to the west (right side) of the Nidda just behind Hausener Wehr left and follows the old arm, at the end between the allotments into Buchbornstraße From where it then goes on the Sandplackenstraße back to Niddauferweg.
