Hiking
Walks lead through abandoned settlements that were destroyed in the major earthquake of 1953. Unlike many other places on the island, Germenata itself was largely spared, which has preserved its original character.
In the surrounding area, you can find the remains of old stone houses and churches, which are now being reclaimed by nature.
From the slopes near Germenata, you have a wide view over the Ionian Sea and often as far as the neighboring island of Ithaca.
