As early as 1278 there was a Gothic church in the village, which was consecrated to Saint Leonard of Limoges and John the Baptist. In 1350 Linden - previously a branch of Markt Erlbach - was raised to its own parish and the neighboring town of Jobstgreuth was added as a branch.

In 1501 the church was rebuilt; traces of the Gothic architectural style can only be seen in the choir. The sacrament house and the middle bell show this year. After the Thirty Years War the church was destroyed. It was rebuilt and received its present form after a renovation in 1795, whereby the tower with its high pointed roof also disappeared. The nave was built in 1872/73. The third bell had to be delivered during the war and was replaced in 1952.

Every year, four weeks after Easter, the parish is celebrated in her honor.
