There was a brick house on the Schwandegg, which was called "Schloss Schwandegg" in the 18th century. Here the Menzinger veterinarian and naturopath Karl Josef Arnold (1792-1870) set up the "Schwandegg sanatorium" in 1839, the first in the canton of Zug.

In 1990, the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X acquired the property and made it their general residence. A service is held in the chapel every Sunday at 9:30 a.m., and a Holy Mass is celebrated at 7:15 a.m. on weekdays.
