The Franconian rake, symbol for the whole of Franconia with its three distinctive points, is the basis of the design of the work of the sculptor Bettina Schluesselburg, the Pfahlenheim rake.
This reference is justified because Pfahlenheim, as a typically Franconian village, also has three spiritual attractions in Franconia, namely the Ottilien spring; the Kunigundenweg and the Jakobsweg.
Placed at a distance from each other and connected with seating, the viewer of the Pfahlenheim rake can also see the ends of pointed piles (Pfahlenheim), house contours (PfahlenHeim) or mountain peaks (the goal reached) in the jagged shapes made of shell limestone.
A relief is worked into each of these stone forms, representing the three pilgrimage stations, as follows: the oldest occurrence in Pfahlenheim is the depiction of an eye, for the Ottilien spring; that of Bamberg Cathedral, for the Kunigundenweg and that of the scallop, for the Jakobsweg.
