The baroque Oberauer church with the 52 meter high tower, a symbol of the valley, is unique in the whole of Tyrol. Because of its striking size, the church is sometimes called the "Wildschönau Cathedral". Patron Saint is Saint Margarethe. The Oberau church was first mentioned in 1394. After the church fell victim to a fire in 1719, the reconstruction of the new baroque church began.
