The city's nerve center, the square is used by all public transport (buses and trams). Long-distance hiking trails (GR) also cross the square, as does the Via Turonensis, which runs from Paris to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. All around, you'll find numerous cafés and restaurants where you can relax and unwind.

The Hôtel de Ville is a showstopper.
That enormous building on the south side isn't a backdrop... it's Tours's city hall.
Also designed by Victor Laloux (the same man as the train station).
Illuminated at night = an instant "wow" effect. Especially with Christmas lights.
→ Small fun fact: locals meet up with
"On se retrouve devant l'Hôtel de Ville."
Not: on the square. That says it all.
