Wild Polish Horses on the Tourist Trail

On the hiking trail of the Polish Academy of Sciences, in the area of xerothermic grasslands, you can meet a herd of wild horses. It is a Polish horse, a wild breed under the supervision of the Polish Academy of Sciences research station

Xerothermic grassland - non-forest plant community of a grassland or grass-herb nature. Xerothermic grasslands are widespread in southern and south-eastern Europe, in areas with dry and warm summers. In Western and Central Europe, including Poland, xerothermic grasslands develop on sunny slopes on a dry limestone substrate. Therefore, the species that build this type of phytocoenosis are mainly photophilous and limestone-loving plants. In Poland, xerothermic grasslands are predominantly semi-natural communities, whose stability requires interference in the form of, for example, extensive grazing.

Wild horses can be seen in this area of the cycle route
