Martigny is a municipal municipality, a burger municipality with a burger council and the capital of the district of the same name in the Swiss canton of Valais. The German name Martinach is still used in Upper Valais.

The small town of Martigny am Rhoneknie in the Lower Valais is the hub of the pass routes over Simplon, Grosser Sankt Bernhard and Forclaz. It impresses with its cultural-historical heritage as well as its southern flair and tasty gastronomy.
Interesting for you as a cyclist: Martigny was last driven by the professionals of the Tour de France in 2016, as the 17th stage was on the tour plan. From here the driveway starts up to Lac d'Émosson.
