The Irrsee under protection or also Zellersee (Zellersee) is the warmest lake of the Salzkammergut and is located in Upper Austria, near the border to Salzburg.
It lies at an altitude of 553 m above sea level. A. and is about 4½ km long and about 1 km wide. Together with the Fuschlsee, it is the topmost larger lake in a chain of lakes in the Salzkammergut lakes, which continues across the Mondsee to the Attersee. [4]
The Irrsee is relatively natural and, with the moors surrounding it, provides a habitat for many endangered animal and plant species. It is warm up to 27 ° C, and is considered a good bathing lake, but is much less crowded than the other large lakes and has relatively gentle tourism infrastructure.
