A really interesting structure - quite magical as it appears in front of you out of the pines. Such a shame it has some graffiti on it - would be great if the council could get it cleaned up - things like this are worth preserving! The Ruin, as it is called on the earliest OS maps, was built by Benjamin Ferrand and is inscribed with his initials and the year 1796. Also known as Ferrand’s Folly, or Harden Grange Folly, there is no explanation for why it later became known as St David’s Ruin.

A great walk with hills, waterfalls, ruins, woods and a couple of decent pubs! The walk up to Ferrands Folly is quite steep so take care in winter conditions as is the way down towards the golf course.
