As a picturesque "fairy-tale castle", Falkenstein Castle overlooks the Mölltal near Obervellach. The slightly higher situated castle Oberfalkenstein is today a ruin. From Obervellach and the village of Gratschach, easy hiking trails lead to the two castles

Hiking

At the beginning of the tour, it's quite steep from the starting point to Niederfalkenstein Castle. Too bad that the castle was closed, but it can be visited from May to September for a few euros. Continue to the ruins of Oberfalkenstein, under the impressive railway bridge. Overall beautiful round hike in the Mölltal.
