Neo-Romanesque and neo-Gothic building, was completed in 1877.
The church was consecrated on March 30, 1881 by the Bishop of Quimper and Léon and is christened Saint-Martin in the middle name of the former mayor of Brest, Hyacinthe, Martin Bizet (1848 - 1866).
Originally the district was called “Belair” and belonged to the municipality of Lambézellec, which was annexed by the city of Brest in 1861, popularly known as “the annexation” and later the district of “Saint-Martin”.
The church's bell tower was badly damaged in 1944 and the roof was completely destroyed by fire; it was restored between 1946 and 1948.
