Lio Piccolo is a town in the Venetian Lagoon, with only 22 inhabitants, included in the municipality of Cavallino-Treporti. It is sometimes referred to as an island, although it is rather a collection of islets separated by narrow channels. The name Lio is a local term, now disused, which means lido. The Latin name Litus Minor served to distinguish it from the nearby Litus Maior, the current Lio Maggiore of Jesolo.[citation needed]

It is accessed from Treporti along a very panoramic road, being completely surrounded by marshes. It is a predominantly agricultural locality: around the small church dedicated to Santa Maria della Neve there are a handful of buildings, while the surrounding landscape is characterized by the presence of vegetable gardens - where, among other things, the well-known castraùre (the first sprout of the purple artichoke) and the zizołe (jujubes) - with some isolated huts, interspersed with canals, salt marsh areas and fishing valleys.

It has undergone notable territorial changes over the centuries, due to phenomena such as subsidence and marine erosion.
