"Fernkloof Nature Reserve" a really positive surprise for us. After entering the main gate (via Fir Avenue) there is a beautifully landscaped garden, plenty of parking, toilets and nice people to help with tips and hints. At the end of the access road is a log cabin (the Visitor Center), where you can learn about the fauna, flora and the many hiking opportunities. Details, such as maps, opening hours, directions and much more, can be found at "fernkloof.com". Since we only had two days in Hermanus, we decided on the Green route. What we saw really convinced us. The routes are very well signposted and easy to do. For us the path to the waterfall was the highlight. Here you walk through a small green oasis, which is not so fast to find in the otherwise dry Africa. The Fernkloof Nature Reserve offers walking tours for all levels of difficulty and we can really recommend a visit.
