The Přírodní rezervace Bystřice nature reserve borders on the Čerchovské hvozdy nature reserve. The so-called Herkynian forest preserved in the reserve consists of spruce, beech and fir trees. The thinned fir tree crowns bear witness to the high pollution levels in the second half of the 20th century. The pond newt, which is now only rarely found in the Czech Republic, lays its larvae in the Teplá Bystřice river.
