The welcome house is a sandstone and half-timbered building between Neuwirtshaus and Schönderling from 1842. The welcome house was built as a so-called forestry or forest protection building to provide accommodation to a mounted small military or police force in protecting the forests from poachers and forest renegades. It could later have served as a meeting place for King Ludwig I and his lover Lola Montez - but there is no historical evidence. King Ludwig often stayed in Bad Brückenau for a cure and probably went hunting in the Neuwirtshauser forest. The Willkommhaus also served as a hunting lodge at that time.

      Lola Montez's love nest

Where Lola Montez stayed with King Ludwig I of Bavaria

This hut in the Geiersnester forest has an interesting history. The Bavarian King Ludwig I is said to have spent nights there with his lover Lola Montez.

Ludwig was very often in Bad Brückenau and appreciated the peace and quiet in the forest.

There was once an agricultural property with meadows and fields at this location. It was not until 1842 that the building was erected as a forester's house. It got on everyone's lips in the middle of the 19th century when Lola Montez, the mistress of King Ludwig I of Bavaria, moved into quarters for one night. It was in October 1846 when King Ludwig I stayed in Bad Brückenau. This time his lover Lola Montez also came with us. When his wife Queen Therese also unexpectedly came to visit the spa town, Lola Montez had to leave in a hurry and she was taken to the hunting lodge, where she had to spend the night alone. Immediately by the hunting lodge was a small pond in which she took a bath the next morning, just as nature had created. According to tradition, it was even said to have been observed by Ludwig I.
