The beautiful round trip starts in Colmar at the station. On cycle paths the route leads over Munster and Luttenbach to Breitenbach Haut-Rhin. There, the climb begins on a poorly traveled narrow asphalt road to the Ferme Auberge Lameyberg. From Lameyberg the rest of the climb to the Petit Ballon runs over very promising meadow paths. The trails are typical rough, but the climb is consistently pleasant to drive. On the way, the Ferme-Auberge Rothenbrunnen offers a welcome refreshment stop.
The view from the summit of the Petit Ballon on the Rhine plain, the Münstertal and the Grand Ballon is terrific.
On the following descent to the Col du Boenlesgrab, flowy meadows alternate with beautiful forest trails. The exception is the rough descent from the Ferme-Auberge Strohberg to the Col du Boenlesgrab. The icing on the cake is then the end of the 18-kilometer trail GR 32 (yellow rectangle) which leads in a mix of single trails and forest trails from Col de Boenlesgrab Eguisheim back to Wintzenheim.
