Less than two kilometers away from the center of Aquilonia Nuova (1930), is the Borgo Centro Antico di Carbonara. It is a village gradually abandoned following the 1930 earthquake (Vulture earthquake) when the fascist intervention decreed the abandonment of the site for the benefit of the new town of Aquilonia which would have been built with anti-seismic and health criteria.
