This magnificent Romanesque church, built in 1244, appears from the outside quite sober and of great architectural simplicity. It conceals within it many treasures including paintings by great masters. The cathedral (because it is one) thus exhibits three magnificent Rubens, a Fragonard (the washing of the feet), a Charles Nigre, a Gaillard, and a Sébastien Bourdon.

It was transformed into a cathedral when the bishopric of Antibes was transferred to Grasse. It is important not to confuse it with the Notre-Dame-du-Puy cathedral, located in Le Puy-en-Velay. It is precisely for this purpose that Grasse is specified in his nomination.

Small amusing detail: during the first French revolution, the cathedral served as a granary. In 1795 a fire caused by the emanation of gases linked to the fermentation of cereals lasted several days and caused some pillars to burst.

They are consolidated. Rest assured, they won't fall on you the day of your visit.

You can climb to the top of the building and thus have a complete view of the city of Grasse.

A beautiful cathedral, not as much pomp and kitsch as is often the case.
