From 1992 onwards, the Hochdonner Bridge became known nationwide due to the "faeces trial", in which the Schleswig Higher Regional Court finally ruled in favour of a house owner who demanded an end to the faeces emissions from the then still open pit toilets of the railway carriages, which regularly fell from the high bridge onto his property. The railway was sentenced to only use trains with closed toilet systems on the high bridge within five years.
