Tips

  • The tower was built in 1442. The clock in the tower has the right to strike first in Lucerne and therefore strikes one minute earlier than all other clocks in Lucerne.
The tower is freely accessible from April 1st to November 1st.

  • The Musegg Wall is the second, outer ring of fortifications on the north side of the city. Ten towers were originally part of the fortifications. Today nine still exist. Two towers were designed as gate towers.

In 1860 the outer Weggistor and 40m of the Musegg Wall were demolished. Today it is preserved over a length of 870 m and is a national monument under the protection of the Swiss Confederation.
