The Saint Livier chapel is named after a local saint. Livier was governor of the city of Metz. He was imprisoned in Marsal by the Huns because he refused to renounce his faith. He was climbed to the top of Mont de Saint-Jean and beheaded. Legend has it that where his head fell, a spring gushed out. This source was quickly deemed to be miraculous. A pilgrimage developed and a chapel served by the monks of Salival was built to house the relics of the Saint, part of which was transferred to Metz. The chapel was destroyed in the 16th century, it was rebuilt in the first half of the 17th century. Sold as national property during the French Revolution, it was restored in 1805 then ceded in 1848 to the bishopric of Metz. The site still retains its function of hermitage today.

For the snack, the silence and the setting.
