From June 1944 the »Kaufering« concentration camp complex with eleven subcamps of the Dachau concentration camp was built. By exploiting the labor of predominantly Jewish prisoners, three semi-underground bunkers for German aircraft production were to be built here. The mortality rate was particularly high due to the catastrophic supply and hygiene conditions as well as the completely inadequate accommodation in clay tube buildings and earth huts. After the liberation on April 27, 1945, the area of the former »Kaufering VII« camp was used as a colony for refugees and expellees.
