A visit to this castle ruin, which lies between the Kinzig and the Schuttertal on a porphyry rock, is highly recommended. You can visit around the clock any day, but what do you want to do up there at night? The ruin is free to enter. Many angled places, it is possible to climb up to the castle wall via a spiral staircase. Here a fantastic view over the Middle Black Forest to the Vosges. A highlight of this ruin is the well, which was cut about 60 m deep into the rock and is located in a well house. Illuminated with a motion sensor. Numerous information boards in the castle complex.
The path is a bit steep in parts but easy to walk. Parking spaces on Bundestrasse near the Ludwig column.
Not far from the ruin there are two inns whose opening times should be inquired in advance.
