The first building of the church was erected in 1501. According to some documents, the money for this temple was donated by the prince of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. The church was completely rebuilt in 1723: the new wooden church had a brick foundation, various decorative elements and at that time looked very rich.

In 1924, lightning hit the building, and it burned down, and there quickly, that practically nothing was taken out of the church. Only the nearby belfry has survived, which the locals rebuilt and began to hold mass in it. A new brick church, larger and more beautiful than the previous one, began to be erected in the 1930s, but in 1939 Soviet power came, and the church was not completed. And the chapel was destroyed by a bulldozer at night in 1961, while the parishioners slept and did not know what was happening.

The construction of the modern church began in 1992. The church used to have a large archive and library, some documents and icons were returned. Today the church operates and receives parishioners.
