Also known as the Château de Rosa Bonheur, the Château de By is a former 15th century manor estate. It became the property of the artist-painter Rosa Bonheur in 1859. Bonheur then became the first woman to acquire real estate in her name thanks to the sole fruit of her labor. She built a workshop in the castle and spent the rest of her life there. Today the castle is a museum. There are also gardens, a tea room, and a bookstore. Many cultural events also take place there.
