    Ash (River FL Unterland)
The ash (old name Krebsbach and Fischbach) is an approximately 8 kilometer long river in the Liechtenstein lowlands. The ash originally originated from the Egelsee in the area of Vorarlberg Tosters / Feldkirch AT and flowed south of Bendern into the Rhine. The course of the river has been regulated and straightened since the 1840s. This enabled the agricultural profitability of the areas flowed through to be increased enormously. The mouth of the ash was relocated downstream to Gamprin in order to compensate for the backwater caused by the Rhine as a result of the elevation of the river bed. With the construction of the Liechtenstein inland canal, the ash was diverted into it. The ash has a catchment area of 25.8 km², primarily on the Liechtenstein lowlands. It flows through the extensive reed areas of the communities of Mauren and Eschen. In recent years, the river has begun to be revitalized, as the straightening had led to widespread flooding. The Egelsee, which was drained 200 years ago, was reactivated and is now used as a retention basin. The width of the ash has also been increased in many places to give the water more space.
The ash is the only river that comes from abroad and runs partly upland and south.
