The Parpanese church is dedicated to San Gorgonio and was built in the 12th century for pilgrims on the Via Francigena on the road to Rome. It was also used by pilgrims from northern Europe who, having crossed the Alps and crossed Lombardy and the ford on the Po in Parpanese, headed towards the Trebbia valley to stop at the abbey of San Colombano di Bobbio. The church is now managed by the association "Amici di Pietro Delfitto", a painter from Pavia very attached to his territory and to the Po, and inside there are some of his paintings and frescoes.
