From this observation tower you have a beautiful view of the flat polder landscape and the Zwaanhoek nature reserve.
The best way to describe the Zwaanhoek is: sweet, salty, swampy. A varied area with meadows, ditches and swamps has developed here as a result of agriculture and clay quarrying.
In this way, man created an extraordinary habitat for all kinds of meadow and swamp birds: thousands of geese spend the winter there, black-tailed godwits and lapwings breed in fields, preferably near damp depressions. Redshanks and oystercatchers also nest here, and the avocet also visits almost every year.
In the reeds you will find sedge warblers, aquatic warblers, bearded tits, marsh harriers and water rails.
