Small Sanctuary in the area of Leonardo's Adda Ecomuseum, part of the path of Sant'Agostino.

If desired, the church and the rooms below can be visited but only on request.

The area is very fascinating and rich in history.

I went a couple of times with the BDC; just get to the Cornate cemetery, get a second pair of hiking shoes and walk along the cemetery walls. You will find a mule track (quite steep) that takes you directly to the sanctuary.

The small Madonna della Rocchetta Sanctuary is located in the heart of the Adda Nord Regional Park, in the section called Leonardo's Adda Ecomuseum and is part of the path of Sant'Agostino.

Located in the municipality of Paderno d'Adda, but part of the Parish of Cornate, the sanctuary enjoys an enviable position from a naturalistic and geographical point of view, where the Adda river divides from the Naviglio di Paderno.

The small church and the rooms below, once home to the friars who lived there, can be visited on request.

How to get to the Rocchetta Sanctuary

by car – reach Cornate d'Adda, setting Via Mazzini 1 on the navigator. The road leads you to the Church that you see in front of you. Turn left 50 meters before where there is a car park to leave your vehicle.

From here head towards the church and then on the right straight towards the cemetery. Once you get close you will see take the cobbled path that enters the woods. After about 400 meters downhill you reach the entrance to the staircase.

on foot - along the cycle/pedestrian towpath that runs alongside the Adda river in Paderno d'Adda heading towards Porto d'Adda. Along the route you will find many industrial archeology sites, including the Paderno iron bridge, the Bertini hydroelectric power plant and the "three horns of the Virgin" which emerge from the Adda rapids and are said to have inspired Leonardo da Vinci for the depiction of the natural scenery of the Virgin of the Rocks.
