Best Road Cycling Rides to Écluse des Lorrains

Tips

  • Unique lock in France with its circular construction. Its stone basin, 32m in diameter, was built between 1835 and 1841.
It is located near the Guétin aqueduct and a dam on the Allier which allowed water to be drawn from there and transported to the Loire lateral canal.
At the time, boats used this feed channel to pass from the Allier to the canal but it was decommissioned in 1950 and only water now uses this path.
