Ramsberg was built around 1200. In 1225 it was probably owned by the knight Ulrich von Plochingen, a relative of Ulrich II and Konrad, known as the monk von Rechberg. The complex was first mentioned on September 22nd, 1270, when the then owner Konrad, a son of Ulrich von Plochingen, gave a servant maid to the monastery of St. Blasien and the corresponding deed of donation was signed at the castle.

From 1327 to 1529 the castle was owned by the Lords of Rechberg. Between 1529 and 1999, Ramsberg Castle and the lands changed hands seven times. [1]

The castle has been a sight on the Staufer Road since 1977. [2] Since 2000 the castle has belonged to the Göppingen fashion chain Dieter Wißmach, who breeds horses in the stud farm belonging to the facility.
