You can climb Kirkjufell. However, you need experience with climbing, good hiking boots, surefootedness and, above all, good weather and sunshine.

The last third is really difficult and you should be very sure that you can manage the descent. Three ropes help on the last three steps. This requires strength in the arms.

When it is very windy, the narrow passages are dangerous. The path can be found if you look closely. In some places, the wrongly branching paths are "blocked" with small stones. Please pay close attention. On the way up, a young man came towards me. When I descended, he was suddenly far behind me. When I got to the bottom, he told me that he had gotten lost at the top.

The mountain is only a success if you get back down safely!!!

Climb to the very top of the Kirkjufell only if you have decent rock walls climbing experience. There are a few moments where you have to climb a few meters on almost a vertical wall.

We climbed the Kirkjufell summit in relatively bad weather — cloudy and with little rain. The rocks and ropes were a little slippery. We had climbed indoors multiple times, and this was still challenging for us. We make it with caution in 2.5 hours. Good climb!
