Ottilienberg is named after St. Ottilie, or rather, a church that stood on the hill in the 15th century. Saint Ottilie lived in Alsace in the 6th century. Blind from birth, according to legend, she regained her sight through the water at her baptism. She is therefore considered a spring saint and is invoked for eye diseases.
