“Onsen” means “hot spring” and there are several of them in the small health resort of Yunomine. The village has a history that goes back over 1,800 years. You can lie down in the hot water and relax in the public bathhouse, the Tsubuyo. The small wooden house right by the stream offers space for two adults and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You pay the entrance fee at the machine at the public bathhouse and are then given your number.

Another specialty of the place is Onsen Tamago. These are eggs that are boiled until tender in water at almost 80 degrees. You can buy eggs and now also sweet potatoes in several places and then let them grow in the publicly accessible pool.
