It's good that this beautiful bridge was rebuilt in its old form after the fire

After the fire, the old bridge over the Danube was rebuilt according to the old construction, closed bridge with a beautiful carved wooden figure. Also ideal as a shelter :-)

History: The wooden bridge from Zimmer is unique in the Upper Danube Valley and can claim to be a landmark of historical value as a reminder of the past.

In 1784 the covered wooden bridge was built for the first time as a crossing over the Danube.
In 1799 the French destroyed the bridge. The carpenter citizen Mathä Hienerwadel had to drive a wagon of straw onto the bridge, which was then set on fire by the French soldiers.
In 1825 the bridge was rebuilt. In the bridge, at the south exit on the right-hand side, a plaque with the clock was placed.
In 1945, German soldiers removed this plaque with the clock before they had to destroy the bridge while retreating.
When the building was rebuilt in 1947, it was reattached. The new dimensions of the bridge are similar to the old ones. Only the construction is different.
In the morning hours of September 6th, 2015, the covered bridge was on fire again due to the negligence of some young people. Since the bridge is a connection between rooms and Hintschingen, which is also of great importance for tourist purposes, it quickly became clear that the bridge had to be rebuilt with the same wooden construction.
After a construction period of approx. Ten months, the new covered wooden bridge was reopened on July 17, 2016 with a church blessing and could be used again by the general public.
