    Road cycling

    Until the St. Stephen's Chapel was built, the people of Rand went to Blumberg or Epfenhofen (the church there was demolished in the mid-1960s) to worship. But it was always a very arduous journey, especially in winter. In 1954, a prayer hall was temporarily set up on site in the “Hoher Randen” inn. Finally, at a community meeting in May 1961, it was decided to build their own church. That year, every old Catholic family from Randen donated 500 DM for the construction of the new church, which could not cost more than 50,000 DM.
