Seven iron pointed bars are important regional finds in the community of Beckingen from 1983 and 1986. They were excavated on a property in Düppenweiler and show that the Celts were already blacksmiths. By comparing the excavations, it was possible to narrow down the production period of the bars from Düppenweiler to a period between 450 and 25 BC. This is reported in the book “Beckingen through the ages – a presentation of the history and present of the community of Beckingen and its districts” from 1991.

The book also provides insights into the importance of the strong metal in the La Tène period: “It was only in the late Hallstadt period that the importance of iron increased in Europe. Iron smelting in Europe only achieved its breakthrough in the subsequent La Tène period.” The Celts definitely contributed to the rise of European metallurgy. They were the first in Western Europe

Iron smelting in Europe only occurred in the subsequent La Tène period.” The Celts definitely contributed to the rise of the European metallurgical industry. They were the first in Western Europe to use the raw material to forge weapons and make tools. It is precisely through such graves that we recognize the importance of the personalities of this time 👑👍
