In 2009 Queen Beatrix unveiled the National Inland Shipping monument.
It was made by the Frisian artist Ids Willemsma. The artwork is a posthumous tribute to Schuttevâer, a champion of inland shipping in the nineteenth century and 'the keeper of Schokland'. That is why it is deliberately located at the former harbor of Schokland.translated by
