Big old tree with chapel and bench. Quiet place to linger, prayer, snack

      Feldkapelle near Untertresenfeld
In the district of Altenstadt near Vohenstrauß, north of Untertresenfeld on the way to Albersrieth, there is a small field chapel in the "Auf der Hühner" area, popularly known as the "Schraml Chapel".

The simple chapel, which is appealing in its simplicity, bears the year of construction "1701" and the initials of the name of the builder and former farm owner "H M", Haberkorn Michael.

In 1888 Johann Frischholz, an ancestor of the current owner Josef Frischholz, bought the agricultural property in Untertresenfeld (House No. 1). Since then, the field chapel has belonged to the Frischholz family.

A cross is attached to the gable end above the entrance, which is provided with a wooden lattice. Inside there is a prayer stool and a picture on canvas shows Our Lady of Sorrows. It is said to come from the old castle chapel in Waldau.

The private chapel, listed as a historical monument, is guarded by two tall linden trees.
