Built between 1962 and 1965 at the behest of the parish priest of Barzio Pietro Tenca, it stands at 1662 m a.s.l. at the Piani di Bobbio ski resort. The first stone was laid by the Archbishop of Milan Giovanni Battista Montini on 5 September 1962, the same day he inaugurated the cable car that connects Moggio to the Piani di Artavaggio, ten months before his coronation as pontiff with the name of Paul VI.
