The butter mill is the faithful reconstruction of a former watermill. Between 1862 and 1920, milk was made into cheese and butter in the farm's dairy farm. By means of the power of the water wheel, a rotary butter keg was operated inside the building.

This museum island consists of two buildings: the former sheep and pigpen, and the actual butter mill building with its authentic butter mill barrel and its waterwheel-driven transmission. Here, you'll find information about the building's history and the Brogmus butter mail-order business. Annually changing special exhibitions can be found in the adjacent building.A fully functioning facility, the butter mill illustrates the former use of a small meadow for dairy and agricultural work: The water dammed in the mill pond drives an overshot waterwheel, which rotates a rotating butter churn inside the dairy building.
