The river Massane rises at an altitude of 968 m above sea level. d. M. on the north side of the Albères massif, the easternmost foothills of the Pyrenees. The river flows through the municipalities of Argelès-sur-Mer and Sorède and flows south of Argelès-Plage into the Mediterranean. The Port Argelès marina is located in its estuary.

Hiking

In the off-season, the beach is still empty (it's a great sandy beach). What it's like in July/August is hard to imagine. The existing bistros and shops suggest a lively atmosphere.
