Gaaden is a cozy place in the Vienna Woods, which was known for its wood and lime extraction. Today you can see the local history museum, the Ölberg group, a historic lime kiln and the parish church of St. Visit James the Elder.
The Anninger is the highest mountain in the Vienna Woods at 675 meters. It offers a magnificent view of the surroundings and is a popular destination for hikers and mountain bikers. At the summit is the Anninger Schutzhaus, where you can fortify yourself with regional specialties.
The Kaiser-Jubiläums-Warte is a 20 meter high iron observation tower on the Eschenkogel, a summit of the Anninger. It was built in 1898 for the 50th anniversary of the reign of Emperor Franz Joseph I and offers a fantastic panoramic view of the Vienna Woods, the Vienna Basin and the Alps.
The Vienna Woods is a biosphere park that is home to a unique variety of flora and fauna. Here you can discover rare plants such as the Turk's cap lily or the liverwort, as well as animals such as the black stork, the eagle owl or the fire salamander.
