I can recommend the Morclan peak in Châtel to every tourist, especially families. We have been going to Chablais for 10 years and have our "base" in Saint-Paul-en-Chablais, above Évian-les-Bains. The Morclan is 1970 meters high and accessible in Châtel by a Télécabine and a Télésiège. The leisure area in the border area of Châtel and the Swiss border, in total the Valée d'Abondance, is called "Porte du Soleil". You can buy a multipass at the Télécabine ticket office, which gives you discounted access to and from the station and other leisure facilities in and around Châtel. In good weather you can see Mont Blanc and sometimes, rather rarely, as far as the Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch in the Bernese Alps. We have been to the summit several times and have also tried different routes for the descent to the middle station. You can also descend from the summit to Châtel or on the other side, towards Switzerland and the Rhône Valley.

On September 1st we had great weather on the Morclan and a distant view of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The summit of Mont Blanc was a bit in the clouds, but you could see the peaks south of Martigny.
