Las Cabezuelas is an old Roman silver mine located on the outskirts of Camuñas (Toledo). A large cross and a tombstone give some clues to its gloomy use in the first months of the last Civil War: a mass grave for priests, workers, owners, industrialists and farmers suspected of sympathizing with the Francoist side. Coinciding with the fury of excavators that has led to the Law of Historical Memory in mass graves but without claiming any subsidy, the Archbishopric of Toledo has financed an exhaustive analysis of this mine. The result: the location of 41 people, mostly men. However, all the hypotheses point out that at least 100 more people are buried in the depths. All of them, like those persecuted by the national side that still remain anonymous in so many ditches, victims of the same hatred.

The intention of the Church has not been to stir up old stories of rancor and murder, but rather to identify a group of priests who ended their days in this mine and on whom the process of their beatification began in 2002. Their location has been possible because their names were inventoried in the General Cause that General Franco opened in 1939 to honor his memory.
